Sergeant Jordan Cervi, U.S. Marine Corps, in a vehicle turret during deployment

Jordan Cervi

U.S. Marine Corps · 2001–2005, 2006–2010 · Iraq & Afghanistan

Sergeant Jordan Cervi was born and raised in Carlinville, Illinois. After graduating from high school in May 2001, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While he was completing recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, the September 11, 2001 attacks occurred, marking the beginning of a new chapter in American military history.

He earned the Military Occupational Specialty of Basic Combat Engineer (1371). In March 2003 he took part in the initial invasion of Iraq with the 7th Engineer Support Battalion, and later returned to Iraq for the Battle of Fallujah in 2004.

After returning home, Sergeant Cervi served in the reserves before re-enlisting on active duty, assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kāneʻohe Bay. He completed two additional deployments to Iraq between 2007 and 2009. In 2009 he deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan with the 11th Marine Regiment out of Camp Pendleton, California.

Today Sergeant Cervi continues serving the Veteran community as Senior Vice Commander of VFW Post 1104 and as Office Manager for the Veterans Assistance Commission of Macoupin County in Carlinville, where he helps fellow Veterans access the benefits and support they earned through their service.
